Stacks Journal’s Unique Peer Review Process
1. We vet and gather a small group of reviewers
Every reviewer must have published a peer-reviewed article and be familiar with the article’s field and methods.
2. Start with a period of independent review
You’ll get the article for 2 weeks to review on your own.
3. Join a shared document to collaborate with other reviewers
You’ll then get 2 weeks to add your feedback to a shared document. You can respond to others’ comments, add suggestions, and discuss the science together. It’s all double-blind to reduce bias and make better science.
4. Vote on publication
If more than 70% of reviewers agree the article should be published, it is. If more than 70% vote to reject, it is. Otherwise, it goes back to the authors for revisions.
5. Decide how to be recognized in the final article
You can opt-in to be listed as a Collaborator underneath the line of Authors on the final document. All reviewers will have their feedback, names, and votes transparently published with the article.
